About this project

Pitch

Needle is an AI-assisted matchmaking app designed to move dating away from endless swiping and towards more meaningful introductions. Most dating apps ask you to judge people quickly from a few photos, prompts, and filters. Needle starts differently. It gets to know you through a conversation, builds a more thoughtful profile from what you say, and then works quietly in the background to look for potential matches. When Needle finds someone who could be a good fit, it does not just show another profile card. It explains why the introduction could make sense, based on signals like values, communication style, lifestyle, relationship intent, and the kind of dynamic that might work between two people. Once there is mutual interest, Needle opens a shared conversation. From there, a private coach can help if you are not sure what to say or the conversation starts to go stale, without taking over or pretending to be you. Needle is for people who are tired of treating dating like a game. It is for people who want better profiles, better introductions, and less time spent swiping on their phone. The product is currently in closed beta, and we are letting people in gradually while we learn from early users and improve the experience.

Why we're launching this

From the team
I built Needle because dating apps have started to feel more like engagement machines than tools for meaningful introductions. People spend hours swiping, match with people they never speak to, and often have to force conversations from very little context. Needle is my attempt to make dating feel more intentional. It starts with understanding, works in the background, and only notifies you when there may be a meaningful match.
